Our Philosophy of Collaboration

“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” —Helen Keller

Our growing network of partners are dedicated to sharing resources, supporting each other’s development, and creating the largest possible impact in the places where our work intersects. Together, we are committed to selfless service in our efforts to alleviate suffering and assist with the awakening of the global heart.

SatisfeitoSatisfeito

Satisfeito is a global movement to prevent food waste and reduce child hunger through a joint effort between consumers, restaurants and organisations working for food security for children around the world. At participating restaurants, you have the option to order your dish as the Satisfeito version, with a slightly reduced amount compared to the original size for the same price. What the restaurant save as a result of this reduced portion will be transferred in money to organizations working with children to alleviate hunger.

Global White Lion Protection TrustGlobal White Lion Protection Trust

The Global White Lion Protection Trust is dedicated to protecting and preserving the rare White Lions, whose natural and spiritual homeland is the Timbavati region of South Africa, not far from Seeds of Light’s Center.  Through a scientifically proven re-introduction program designed to release white lions back into their natural habitat in the Timbavati area, they accomplish their mission: to protect white lions, which are at great risk from aggressive speed-breeding programs and trophy hunting, and to help preserve the indigenous knowledge that holds them sacred.

Seeds of Light and the Global White Lion Protection Trust have collaborated on projects for many years. With our direction, the children of Acornhoek developed a musical theater piece about the white lions, and had the extraordinary honor of performing their play for Nelson Mandela at a private audience in Johannesburg, a rare experience that uplifted and changed their lives forever. Our current collaboration is the creation of after-school “Eco Clubs”, which provide primary school children with opportunities to acquire the knowledge, cultural values, attitudes, commitment and skills needed to protect and improve the environment. We currently have Eco Clubs at two schools and hope to expand this to other schools in the coming year.

HlokomelaHlokomela

Established in 2005, Hlokomela coordinates various health and educational initiatives for 59 local agricultural businesses, seeking to empower commercial farmworkers and their families with a greater sense of responsibility for their personal health, spiritual and educational development. Hlokomela’s purpose is to improve the health and reduce the vulnerability of migrant and permanent farmworkers and their families in the Hoedspruit area– to HIV and AIDS, tuberculosis, and other chronic health conditions through improved knowledge, awareness, access to services and healthier living conditions.

Hlokomela has won numerous awards and is highly regarded in regional, national, and international circles. Seeds of Light and Hlokomela are partnering to operate a clinic that serves the 1,000 learners at Beretta School, located in a deep rural area, where there is limited access to health care.
